Mission Cafeteria Lunch !
Excuse me !!! … is some one going to sit here ?! .. No came the response. i said OK and made myself comfortable over the seat. I was in cafeteria and had got the plate full meals purchased at Rs. 35. My plate seemed like a menu for most of the people in the queue, waiting to buy the coupon to have this South Indian Thaali. My plate had all the varieties that the caterers claimed to have had it in the menu for this particular day. It had 2 thick chapatis (seemed very generous in using the flour), it had 2 types of curry(both tasted alike),plain rice, colored rice(i dont know the name, each rice particle had different colors) and rasam(i decided not to drink water after having this rasam, it was dual purpose) and one sweet. I decided to start my mission first with Chapatis . I tried very hard to cut them with my fingers for i was conscious in following the table etiquette. I knew i needed a scissors for sure. I then decided to skip the chapatis or to give a try little later. I then decided to have the sweet – Rava laddu. It was harder than a cricket ball. I put it in my mouth, with a visibility of half outside, tried to chew it. It did not break. I looked around if someone had seen my attempt to break it open. I felt relieved as all around me were busy in their own plates and few others were relishing their homely packed food.I kept the sweet back in its position. I felt that the laddu was looking at me from my plate and was giving a smile that it had won.!!! I decided to give it a try a bit later. Then i decided to have the colorful rice. I could not decide upon the taste. I just had few spoons of it for i was feeling hungry for had eaten nothing so far in spite of my tries. I then served the rasam over the rice, the taste of it was just like having a plain rice. I was about to wind the mission for i knew, it was mission impossible to make the full utilization of the RS. 35. Couple of my friends , saw me there , myself sitting alone amongst the strangers and fighting with my plate. They joined me by occupying the seats next to me. Few among them had their box filled with Home made food. They were kind enough to offer it to all around the table, i would never have said no, for i definitely missed my mom prepared home dishes. I was then , was definitely done with this mission lunch for the day.
Cricket ball??! a golf ball would have been a better comparison. Canteen food (especially the thali) in any IT environment is meant to be bland and tasteless – it does not upset your stomach and gives you all the calories that you never need – which is in line with what you company needs – healthy employees
Prepare your own food – you’ll discover that it is fun; doing it alone might be not so satisfying though.
The comparison is not for the size of the ball. Yeah i know the fun of cooking. Tasting everytime while cooking to make sure its worth eating when its fully prepared
